AUSTRIA

I first traveled to Vienna in 2001 and promptly fell head over heels in love with the city.  Culture is ubiquitous, the museums are fabulous, the concerts everywhere, every night.  The city has a dark history that has been fairly well swept under the rug, as is the case in so many places, including France, and particularly Paris, but somehow, it’s difficult to pass up all the offerings of Vienna and I’ve returned ever since, sometimes twice in a single year.  It’s been a remarkable set for my street photography, and there is something wonderful to see or hear around every corner.  Some street and Flea Market vendors are included because they are part of the fabric of Vienna, and help to define the city.

Salzburg too is almost too beautiful.  Although I’ve only been there twice, I am certain I will go back at some point, if for nothing else, for the music and the wonderful climb up to the Stefan Zweig memorial and the abbey where it is placed overlooking the city.
