Self Portraits

In 1999, I was in Belgium with my friend Susan Schneider.  We were walking on the cobbles in Bruges and passed an ancient church.  In the courtyard, there was a closet mirror leaning against the heavy stones of the building.  I took an image of myself in the mirror.  Susan said – “What a fun series it would be if you took images of yourself in mirrors everywhere you go!”  I started with that one and just never stopped.  I have albums full of them from when I shot only analog, and now, of course, files and files of them digitally.  Here are some from places I’ve traveled. Included are both analog and digital, both color and black and white. I’m a subject that is always there, always available, and it’a always a challenge to make each one different from those that came before.
