TENDRESSE
While working on a client’s project and my personal Spirits in Stone work in many museums, I became fascinated by the garments the statues were dressed in. It was, and is, a marvel to me that sculptors can render textiles in stone so realistically. I placed some of the photographs with actual photographs of draped fabric and there was literally no difference. The wonderful flow of these abstract details of carved clothing inspired this ongoing body of work that I have titled Tendresse. These images are all created using only natural light, in a variety of museums, most of which are in Paris.
In collaboration with the f8collective, I showed some of the images from this series at fotofever in Paris, 2015. (To view their installation, please see Exhibitions on the Press and Books page) I have also shown them at PhotoIndependent in Los Angeles, and at Hilton Asmus Gallery in Chicago, and several of them appear in the book Never Sated, tanka poetry by Pamela A. Babusci and photographs by Susan Aurinko, a collaborative project due to be released in summer 2021.
