Windows/Reflets
In my ongoing series of photographs entitled Windows/Reflets, opposing elements are layered into a single image by light and the reflective qualities of glass and/or mirrors. Modern fashion advertising images become mirrors for passing people and cars, ancient buildings, trees and clouds. Nature is juxtaposed with man-made, and beauty becomes the antonym to the gritty urban landscape reflected in its unnatural, airbrushed surface. These images represent in-camera layering, some are shot on film, some digitally, but all are printed without alteration. Both in color and black and white they address the juxtaposition of the real world and the fantasy world of fashion and beauty.
